Race Updates will be posted here:

RACE REGISTRATION IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED.  MAHALO AND SEE YOU ON SATURDAY!

It is finally race week and I wanted to take this time to thank everyone for participating in the Hawaii Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation's fundraiser race. Our volunteer staff look forward to seeing you out there on race morning. In advance of packet pickup and race day prep, here are some important items to share:

Packet Pickup will be at BOCA Hawaii located at 330 Cooke Street, Honolulu, Hawaii on Wednesday 10/18/17 and Thursday 10/19/17 between the hours of 1200pm and 600pm. We will have safety briefings at 1215pm and 615pm on both days. If you have not done our race in the past, please make every effort to make one of these briefings. We want everyone to have a safe and fun event.

Those who are participating in the Triathlons please bring your run gear to packet pickup so that you can put them in a provided run bag and left with us. On race morning, your run gear will be waiting for you in T2 at Aikahi Elementary School. Relay teams do not need to leave a run bag for your runner will report directly to T2. Triathletes will be required to fill out a Waiver form for access to Kaneohe Marine Corp Base Hawaii. That means for relay teams, please have your runner come in and sign the form.

Cyclists timed or not, you will be coming in to pickup a Bib number which you need to have displayed on you in order to participate in the bike ride/race. If you do not have a Bib, HPD will be pulling you off the course. Also, a friendly reminder that bike lights are required by law. HBL will be checking in the bikes for us.

Race Morning, do to the road construction on Ala Moana Blvd, there has been a slight change to the start of the race. In the past we exited Ala Moana Beach Park at Atkinson Drive, this year we will be leaving the park through the Kamakee Street exit then left onto Ala Moana Blvd. Because of this, we are asking everyone to enter the park on race morning through the Atkinson entrance. This change was needed for us to have a safe race despite the construction, and I thank you for your patience.

Also, there will be two check in points, one for the bike participants and one for the Triathletes on opposite ends of the T1 corral. A map of the new T1 will be posted on the website soon, and I will be briefing it at the safety brief at packet pickup.

Reminder:  ALL bikes that are participating in the bike ride/race MUST be equipped with lights.  The ride/race starts at 6am and it will probably be still a little dark.

Road Closures:

Ala Moana Blvd, west bound will be closed at 530am.  Please plan accordingly and get to the Magic Island early.  The Bike Ride will start at 600am Sharp.   We anticipate that all town roadways will be opened by 830a.

Road closures at Kaneohe Bay Drive will begin at 600am, relay runners, please get there early for there is limited parking in the community.

H3 Kaneohe bound will be closed starting at 600am, the highway and Kaneohe Bay Drive will be opened as soon as the last rider is clear, or at the 1030a cutoff, whichever comes first.

MCBH Mokapu Gate will remain opened for base access.

H3 Triathlon:  Race to the Base   October 21st, 2017

Packet Pick Up & Run Gear Drop Off:

Wednesday & Thursday October 18, 19 - 12 noon to 6pm
At Boca Hawaii, 330 Cooke St, Kakaako, PH 591-9839

• RUN GEAR WILL BE COLLECTED AT PACKET PICK UP - you will be given a RUN BAG at packet pick up marked with your race number to put your run stuff in; bring your run gear with you.  Your gear will be transported to the bike/run transition area for your race day change from bike to run.  Race staff will hand you your RUN BAG when you arrive to T2 on race day.

- Please make some time available on one of these days to:

- Sit through a 15 minute race briefing to be given at 1215p and 6:15p on both days at Boca
- Come with run gear for the race. Think about what you will need once you rack your bike (ex: Run shoes, run socks? run shirt?, nutrition?)
1 - Pick up race packet (includes a 'run bag' to turn in run gear, and a 'dry bag' to put race morning items you wish to be transported to finish)
2 - Turn in RUN GEAR with your RUN BAG labeled with your race number (Do NOT turn in your race number. We strongly encourage you to have a 'race belt' as you will need to wear the race number on the back of you on the bike, and pull it around to the front of you on the run. Even though this is a chip-timed event, your race number will help us identify you on the course)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

• WHY A POINT TO POINT RACE?
A point to point race means you are on one side of the road, thus creating less congestion. You are traveling with the wind. You are not making left hand turns so you do not have to stop/cross on-coming traffic. A point to point race means preparation, but more adventure! But don't worry! Logistical info will be on our website. Run gear will be collected by volunteers at packet pickup, and buses are reserved for those who need transportation after the meal. Point to point means a better swim site and more interesting change of scenery. Finally, you will get to do a bicycle ride over the H3 Freeway!

• IF THIS IS A POINT TO POINT RACE, HOW DO I GET BACK TO MY CAR AT THE START?

There are several options depending on what your post-race plans are. Please see START LOCATION and BIKE & RUN info regarding parking and bus options to get you back to your car. Some athletes will have friend/family drop them off at the start and then meet them at the finish to enjoy the post-race activities. If a friend is unable to fit your bike in their car, BOCA Hawaii can transport your bike for a fee to the shop and you may pick it up on Monday.

• HOW DO I GET MY RUN STUFF OUT TO THE BIKE/RUN TRANSITION AREA?

You will turn in your run gear (RUN BAG) on Wed or Thur of race week at packet pickup. Race staff will hand you your gear bag when you arrive to T2 on race day (see PACKET PICK UP info above for details)

• IS THIS A CLOSED BIKE COURSE?

This race will be a closed bike course with HPD, course marshals, and Safety Systems and Signs Hawaii in place to mark the course and to inform and alert cars that there is a race in progress. Both cars and cyclists have an obligation to respect each other on the road.  Please help us in this opportunity to promote respect for one another. Go as hard as you wish on the swim! Go as hard as you wish on the run! And on the bike, be confident, be smart, and pay attention to your surroundings.  The descent down H3 starting from the Hirano Tunnel is extremely fast, please ride safely and stay within your abilities.

• WILL THERE BE AID STATIONS ON THE COURSE?

Yes. There will be 1 aid station on the bike course at the entrance to Hirano Tunnel at the top of H3 and 4 aid stations on the run, you will have 5 aid opportunities on the run.

• CAN A FRIEND FOLLOW ME ON THE BIKE COURSE OR GIVE ME AID OR ASSISTANCE?

No. No outside race assistance will be allowed. Penalties or disqualification may occur per USAT rules. H3 Freeway Kaneohe Bound will be completely closed to vehicle traffic.  Please encourage your friends and family to take the Pali Highway or Likelike Highway and meet you at the other end of the bike course/finish line at Aikahi Elementary School. Two bike mechanic stations will be set up on H3, halfway up and halfway down the mountain.  We will also have a bike

mechanic roaming the course to assist athletes when possible.
